Complete the final stage of your training to becoming a fully qualified professional counsellor – CCPT offers an advisory service for progression.
In order to join the UK’s leading professional membership bodies such as BACP or NCPS – you will need to complete an attendance based course with a supervised counselling placement of at least 100 hours.
This is an attendance-based course available throughout the UK.
This training is also available via our trusted learning partner – Heartwood Counselling and Psychotherapy in London, Birmingham, West Yorkshire and Devon.
The Level 4 Diploma training consists of 7 elements:
Professional Organisational Issues in Counselling
Students will develop an understanding of the essential relationship between counsellors, as professionals, and the organisations and other people with which they may work. You will explore areas of potential conflict, especially through the existence of different ethical standards and principles. You will also reflect on the importance of managerial supervision and casework supervision.
Counselling in a diverse society
Students will explore the impact that diverse cultures and heritage can have on the client/counsellor therapeutic relationship in a multicultural society. You will also examine power issues within the counselling process.
Counselling Theory
Students will analyse one major theoretical approach to influence, inform and empower their practice as a counsellor. You will also compare other theoretical approaches with the major approach.
Advanced Counselling Skills
Students will demonstrate a range of skills illustrating their development as practitioners. In addition, you will learn that counselling is a managed activity, you will understand the process of a series of counselling sessions, be able to conduct a counselling session with a client in an ethical, effective and safe way and be able to reflect on the counselling session.
Self-Awareness for Counsellors
Aims to enable students to increase self-awareness by analysing and evaluating the impact that counselling theory and practice has on self and relationships.
Research methodologies in Counselling
Students will explore the importance of research in counselling. You will develop your research skills and will learn how to present findings.
Counselling Placement
Students will complete this unit linked to a supervised counselling placement of a minimum of 100 hours.
Depending upon the Level 4 centre, you may also be required to undertake personal counselling during your course. This should be a minimum of 20 hours. CCPT would see this as good practice.

Entrance to Level 4 counselling training follows a satisfactory pre-course entry interview, in which students are required to demonstrate a sufficient level of personal awareness, skills and essential knowledge.
You can complete this training at a number of colleges throughout the UK, including Heartwood Counselling and Psychotherapy in 4 regional locations.
