An ideal first step towards becoming a qualified counsellor or to help you progress to a role in which counselling skills are used.
Flexible Online Study
After enrolling you will receive access to your online course content. You can then begin when you want and progress at your own pace.
Your course units can be accessed at any time and each unit assignment including videos, will be completed via our unique interactive online learning platform.
You will be able to chat with your fellow students via our discussion forum and instant messaging to discuss topics with your peers.
There are a number of audio and video resources to support your learning as well as various activities specifically created to build up your knowledge alongside your assessed unit assignments.
There are also regular, interactive tutor “drop in” sessions available via our virtual classroom to further aid your learning - these also provide an opportunity to ask your tutor any questions should you wish.
Rewarding
Upon successful completion you will achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (QAN 600/0728/X) qualification.
This course is also Online Quality Checked by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) - this means that in the opinion of the Society the training offered is safe, ethical and delivered in a competent fashion. Our students are able to obtain NCPS student membership.
Completing this course equips you with the basic foundation knowledge and building blocks which are vital if you wish to progress your career in counselling.
This course alone is not a route to the Accredited Register nor does it fully equip a graduate to practice as a qualified counsellor. In order to fully qualify, you would need to progress onto the level 3 course and then onto attendance Level 4 (or equivalent) training.

    • Know how to establish a helping relationship
    • Be able to use core counselling skills in a helping relationship
    • Know how to conclude a helping interaction
  • Unit 2: Introduction to counselling skills theories
    • Know elements of counselling theories
    • Know the significance of counselling theory
  • Unit 3: Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
    • Know how an ethical framework relates to the use of counselling skills
    • Know what discrimination means
    • Understand about anti-discriminatory practice
  • Unit 4: Counselling skills and personal development
    • Know how to develop self-understanding
    • Know personal qualities relevant to the helping roles
    • Know how to meet own support needs
    • Know how self-reflection contributes to personal development
